STORY & SCREENPLAY

                    Story is the soul of a Movie.100 crores can be spent on a project ,but a Film Without a good story line is very much similar to a dead body without a soul.Story and screenplay are the most important part of film making.If it is right everything will be right and vice versa.Screenplay is nothing but a group of events happening in a story.These events gathered  should be interesting.Though story is the soul of a film,a movies success mainly relies on screenplay.A bad screenplay can ruin a movie even if the story is good.Movie with a good racy screenplay is sure a winner in box office.Story is "What is said" Screenplay is " How it is said" Its evident nowadays that movies are hitting box office success without any big Stars but with an exceptional Story or screenplay or both.

SCRIPT

       Story is made up of Interesting events which we called Screenplay.Each of these events is further divided into smaller ones called a a scene which we are very familiar with.These scenes together form a script.Script writing is the most important technical aspect of Film Making.A script is a document that outlines every aural, visual, behavioral, and lingual element required to tell a story.Paper work is very essential before going to the shooting spot.It is crucial to remember that film is a VISUAL medium. You don't tell your audience your story, you SHOW them. You must learn to write a screenplay VISUALLY. Write what they will SEE and what they will HEAR. You might love your characters and know what they are thinking, but the discipline of screenplay writing is how to show it on a screen. When it happens, it may be just done with a look, often improvised on the movie set. So just write the pictures, sounds, and speeches, and leave the rest for the filmmakers.

                  In the early years of Indian Cinema & Tamil Cinema,We can see Separate Individuals Working On Story and Screenplay and The Director is one who executes the screenplay in a proper manner and get right emotions from the artists.There was a Story department ,We can see in the titles as 'Kadhai Illaka' in old Tamil Movies.Even nowadays Foreign Movies have got separate departments for that .But later on , Directors also became story and screenplay writers.They started making movies out of their own script without depending on any others for that.But there are also rare few cases turning others stories[novels] into movies like Mr.Sasi made the Movie POO with Mr.Thamizhselvan , Mr.Manirathnam Made KADAL Writen by Mr.Jeyamohan who also penned the dialogues. and Azhagar Saamiyin Kudhirai based on Basker Sakthis Azhagar Saamiyin Kudhirai.
